Ingredients

For the Brown Sugar Syrup

For the Shaken Espresso

  • 1 shot espresso or strongly brewed coffee
  • 2 teaspoons brown sugar syrup or to taste
  • ¾ cup unsweetened oat milk

Instructions

For the Brown Sugar Syrup

  • Combine the water, brown sugar, and cinnamon stick in a small saucepan set over medium heat.

  • Bring the mixture to a boil and cook until the sugar has dissolved.

  • Remove from the heat, add the vanilla, and cover to steep for 15 minutes.
    1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • To store, remove the cinnamon stick, transfer to an airtight container, and refrigerate for up to 7 days.

For the Shaken Espresso

  • Fill a mason jar or cocktail shaker with ice. Add the espresso and brown sugar syrup. Shake vigorously for 30 seconds.

  • Fill a glass with ice and pour over the espresso mixture. Top with oat milk and enjoy immediately.
    ¾ cup unsweetened oat milk

  • Storage: To store the brown sugar syrup, remove the cinnamon stick, transfer to an airtight container, and refrigerate for up to 7 days.
  • Brown Sugar Syrup: Instead of making the brown sugar syrup, you can purchase it as a coffee syrup or melt 1 tablespoon of brown sugar directly in your hot espresso.
