My pomegranate moscow mule is the perfect cocktail for the holidays and beyond. Pomegranate juice adds a festive red color to this winter mule, and when I garnished it with a lime slice and pomegranate arils, the whole thing came together. Red and green, this Christmas Moscow mule is ready for your next holiday party!

I love Moscow mules! I love the copper cups, I love the ginger beer, and I love how freezing cold it is. It’s delicious. The only way to improve upon it is to add some of my favorite fruit– pomegranate. This pomegranate Moscow mule is holiday heaven. The tart pomegranate juice pairs so well with the warming, lightly spiced ginger beer. This winter mule is holiday cheer in a cup!

What’s in This Pomegranate Moscow Mule Recipe?

  • Pomegranate Juice: Adds a lovely tart and fruity twist to the cocktail.
  • Vodka: I used pomegranate vodka to further enhance the fruity flavor, but plain will also work.
  • Lime Juice: Adds a hit of acidity that balances the overall flavor of the drink. I highly recommend using fresh over bottled.
  • Ginger Beer: I say the spicier the better. This adds a warming element and a delightful gingery punch. Choose a brand you love!
  • Garnish: Pomegranate arils and lime wedges add that pop of red and green that truly makes this drink a Christmas Moscow mule!

Tips for Success

  • Ginger beer and ginger ale are very different. Ginger ale just won’t cut it, here. Ginger beer is much more “gingery” and spicy than ginger ale. Ginger ale has more carbonation. And neither of them contains alcohol.
  • For a non-alcoholic version, simply omit the vodka. You can add a little more pomegranate juice or ginger beer to fill out the drink.
  • A copper mug is a great way to drink a Moscow mule, but it’s not necessary, nor does it affect the flavor.
  • You will need lots of ice per serving. Crushed ice is traditional.

Serving Suggestions

This pomegranate Moscow mule is perfect for the holidays. It’s light and refreshing (save the heavy stuff for all the comfort food you’ll be eating!), has a pop of Christmas colors, and features my favorite winter fruit, the pomegranate! What’s not to love?! Pair it with my easy Christmas beef tenderloin sheet pan meal for a laid back holiday that’s full of cheer!

Hi Becky! I wanted to make this for a party tomorrow and was wondering if I could make the drink a little beforehand and put it in a pitcher and then just garnish and serve when my guests arrive or if it needs to be mixed on the spot? Love your site!

Yes! Moscow Mules are amazing. I’ve made a peach version, but now I’m totally digging this pomegranate flavor, and can’t wait to try it! Also – Pearl’s cucumber flavor is great, too :)

Lady, I am ALWAYS trying my next favorite cocktail—we should hang out! I’ve never tried Pearl, so I’m excited to hear about it (and now I need your special moscow mule mugs too)

Hey girl hey! The mugs are from World Market (my cheap heart is so happy in that store) and we should hang out FOR SURE! I saw your name on the list for Eat Write Retreat! That’s too far away, I hope we can meet before that, but I can’t wait for June either way :) Pearl is so good, their Apple Pie Vodka is my jam!
