This orange ginger wellness shot is bright, zingy, and full of good-for-you ingredients. I made a big batch with just 4 all-natural ingredients, and it’s great for boosting immunity with vitamin C, anti-inflammatories, and antioxidants. It’s become a winter ritual to enjoy these wellness shots in the morning with my whole family.
What’s in This Wellness Shot Recipe?
- Oranges: This tasty citrus is high in vitamin C and fiber, and it helps regulate blood sugar.
- Lemons: Also high in vitamin C and fiber, it helps with digestion.
- Ginger Root: This spicy rhizome is high in gingerol, a component that promotes good digestion and reduces nausea. It’s also antiinflammatory!
- Honey: I like to use a raw natural honey to sweeten this drink as it’s rich in antioxidants and is a natural antibacterial. If you are vegan, you can replace this with maple syrup, or use liquid stevia if you are low-carb.
Tips for Success
- If your ginger is organic you don´t need to peel it, just remove dry and stringy pieces
- If your blender is not powerful enough to blend very finely, for example blending spinach until it is so fine you don´t see pieces anymore, you might want to juice the fruits first.
How to Store
These orange and ginger wellness shots are best enjoyed within 24 hours of making them. As soon as the fruits are blended, they slowly start to lose some of their nutrients due to being oxidized. They will keep well covered in the fridge for 3-4 days, but for maximum benefits, I recommend drinking as soon as you can.
Serving Suggestions
These wellness shots are one of my favorite ways to start my day during cold and flu season. For a balanced and healthy breakfast, I like to make healthy banana pancakes, peanut butter energy balls, or baked eggs.
