Coffee and chocolate are a match made in heaven, and this iced mocha is proof of that. I mix rich espresso with milk, cocoa powder, and just a touch of sugar to create this delicious drink. It takes just 5 minutes to put together, and it tastes like it came from a gourmet coffee shop. This is my favorite way to cool off in hot weather.

Mochas are one of my favorite coffee drinks– the combination of chocolate and coffee just cannot be beaten! This iced mocha is so simple to make with just 4 ingredients, and it’s perfect for breakfast or a mid-day pick-me-up.

What’s in This Iced Mocha Recipe?

  • Sugar: Granulated sugar sweetens the drink.
  • Cocoa Powder: Adds rich chocolate flavor to the drink without upping the calorie count. Use an unsweetened cocoa powder, as the sugar adds enough sweetness to this drink.
  • Coffee: Use your favorite coffee for this recipe. I like to use brewed espresso, but instant or decaf will both work well.
  • Milk: Makes the drink nice and creamy. Any kind of milk works, including plant-based milks, so use your favorite.

Tips for Success

  • You can swap the sugar for honey or maple syrup if you prefer.
  • If you want to enjoy this mocha un-iced, you can easily make a hot version of this drink. Simply mix the sugar, cocoa powder and espresso together as per the recipe, and heat the milk in a pot on the stovetop, then combine the warm milk with the mocha mix.
  • Topping off this iced mocha with this whipped cream is never a bad idea!

How to Store

This iced mocha is best enjoyed as soon as you’ve made it so that the ice doesn’t dilute the drink. You can make the mocha mix a day or two ahead and keep it in the fridge so it’s ready to use.
