Once you start making your own condiments at home, it’s pretty hard to go back to the little plastic packets from the drive-thru or the bottles from the store. Homemade condiments have all the flavor you’re craving with none of the artificial preservatives and additives!

Copycat Chick Fil A Sauce

Chick Fil A Sauce is a creamy yellow sauce that was first created by the famous fast food chain. If you have been there, then you know, it’s not about their chicken sandwich or fries or nuggets, it’s this yellow tangy, sweet, smokey and rich sauce.

This creamy yellow sauce is perfect for keeping in your fridge at all times. You never know when you’re going to need it!

By now you must have noticed that how much I love making copycat restaurant recipes to control the additives, to balance the flavors, and the BEST part to enjoy with my family anytime any day without going out.

Here are my favorite copycat recipes McRib Sandwich, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Maid Rite Sandwiches, Cane’s Chicken Fingers, and Olive Garden Salad, that I enjoy, and I know, you’ll too.

Ingredients for Chick Fil A Sauce

  • BBQ sauce: I use my homemade BBQ sauce. You can use your favorite kind of barbecue sauce in this recipe.
  • Agave: It gives that sweet taste to the chick fil a sauce. Simply replace the agave with an equal amount of honey.
  • Mustard: Classic yellow mustard is best! Avoid using Dijon or any kind of spicy mustard for this sauce.
  • Mayo: High fat mayo balances the tang coming from mustard and creates the richness to this easy sauce. I am using homemade mayo, if required swap it out with equal amount of low fat mayo.
  • Lemon juice: I always prefer to use fresh lemon juice in my recipes. But go ahead, and pick that bottle if you don’t have.

NOTE: If you want to experience the real deal, the real copycat Chick Fil A Sauce, then I strongly suggest to use basic ingredients at first without any change .

Tips For Success

  • Freshly squeezed lemon juice is preferred over bottled.
  • If you keep this sauce in a jar, make sure to use a clean utensil whenever you’re getting some out! Any new bacteria that’s introduced to the sauce will make it spoil quickly.
  • Speaking of jars, make sure whatever container you keep this sauce in is truly airtight to keep it nice and fresh.
  • Measure your ingredients with care. If you have too much or too little of something, it could compromise the overall taste of the sauce.
  • For a vegan version, use vegan mayo and honey-free barbecue sauce.

How to Store

Store this sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. While this sauce lasts for a good 5 days, it never seems to stay put for over a day or two in my kitchen. It’s just too addictive!

Serving Suggestions

While I like to stick with fries, sandwiches, and chicken nuggets, there are plenty of other ways to enjoy this unbelievably good sauce! Air Fryer Chicken Tenders, Potato Wedges, Crispy Chicken Sandwich, and Air Fryer Chicken Nuggets are the best to pair with it.

If you made your vegan chick fil a sauce, then enjoy it with Roasted Vegetables like Roasted Potatoes, Zucchini, Baby Potatoes, and Brussels Sprouts.

5-Star Review

“I made this last night and it was the moistest chicken we’ve ever had. A bit of crispy and the flavor was wonderful. I didn’t have buttermilk and did add lemon juice to 1% milk. I am making it again today. Thank you for this recipe.” – Dawn

Looks great, thank you for the recipe! I know you said to use any bbq sauce but specifically which one did you use? There are a lot of bbq sauces out there and the range in flavor is vast! Thank you!
