I’m no baker, as you guys might know, but these Cheesy Cornbread Drop Biscuits are easy even for my standards. You’ll look like the queen or king of your kitchen, you’ll wow your guests and make them happy and full, and all the while it can be your little secret how simple they really were. Cheese, garlic, and cornbread mix, what a FABULOUS flavor combination!

How to Make Cheesy Cornbread Drop Biscuits

Garlicy, cheesy cornbread drop biscuits are just too good. I love making up a batch of these for the holidays, but they’re just as good for any weeknight dinner. There is no fuss with this easy cornbread recipe; just cornbread mix, cheese, and garlic mixed together, dropped onto a baking sheet, and baked to perfection!

How to make Garlic Cheesy Cornbread Drop Biscuits:

  1. Combine shredded cheese, cornbread mix, and garlic powder in a bowl, then stir in milk.
  2. Take (heaping) tablespoon size portions and drop it onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  3. Brush each biscuits with melted butter, parsley, and sea salt.
  4. Bake 13-15 minutes at 400°F.

These cheesy cornbread biscuits are delicious served hot or cold, but I’m partial to hot. Warm and just out of the oven, that’s the ticket. Since they’re so easy, they should be no trouble to add to your Thanksgiving menu!

Ingredients 

  • 3 cups cornbread mix 482 grams (2 (8.5-ounce) boxes)
  • 1 cup freshly shredded cheddar cheese 227 grams
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • cups milk* 151 grams
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter 42 grams, melted (⅜ stick)
  • 2 teaspoons dried parsley 2 grams
  • Sea salt for sprinkling

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Combine the cornbread mix, cheese, and garlic powder.
    3 cups cornbread mix, 1 cup freshly shredded cheddar cheese, ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • Add milk and stir just until incorporated.
    ⅔ cups milk*
  • Drop by heaping tablespoons onto prepared baking sheet.
  • Brush biscuits with melted butter, dried parsley and a scant sprinkling of salt.
    3 tablespoons unsalted butter, Sea salt, 2 teaspoons dried parsley
  • Bake 13-15 minutes or until golden brown on the bottom.
  • Remove from oven. Serve immediately or transfer to cooling rack until ready to serve.

  • Note: Do not prepare the cornbread mix according to the instructions on the box. Use it as a dry ingredient in the recipe. There is not an egg in this recipe!
  • Depending on the brand of cornbread mix used, you may need to increase the milk to 1 cup.
