Baked Cheese Sticks (Ham & Cheese)

This Baked Cheese Sticks Recipe is a healthier take on fried Cheese Sticks. They’re filled with Ham & Cheese for a whole new flavor! It’s such a fun idea for a kids dinner, but you’ll want to sneak a bite or two.

We are BIG fans of mozzarella cheese sticks around here but I don’t really want to be feeding Henry a bunch of fried foods. These are the best of both worlds. They’re easy to make, super flavorful, full of melty cheese, and baked to perfection!

It’s like a ham and cheese sandwich, wrapped up into an easy (and fun) to eat stick.

Healthy Ham & Cheese Sticks Recipe – Baked not Fried!

The best part about these ham & mozzarella cheese sticks is that they’re baked instead of fried. They may not be the epitome of health, but baked mozzarella sticks are infinitely better than their fried counterpart. This mozzarella sticks recipe is so fun to serve at home for the whole family!

If Henry really is my son, then he’s going to LOVE LOVE LOVE cheese. Any kind, any form, any meal. All day every day. I love that this baked mozzarella sticks recipe is an easy and relatively healthy way for kids and adults to get their cheese fix. Wrapped in ham and baked into an eggroll is an amazing way to eat melty cheese. We are big fans of these cheese sticks!

How to Make Cheese Sticks

Making traditional deep-fried mozzarella sticks isn’t the easiest (or healthiest). So instead of how to make mozzarella cheese sticks, I’m going to show you how to make this BAKED Mozzarella Sticks Recipe.

There are a few difference between the mozzarella cheese sticks you’re used to and these baked ham & cheese sticks, but I promise you’re going to love them! These Homemade Mozzarella Sticks are going to be even better.

What’s so different about these baked cheese sticks?

  • They are BAKED instead of fried
  • We’re using eggroll wrappers instead of deep-fried breading
  • We’re adding in some tasty ham
  • And to make things easy, we’re using mozzarella cheese sticks for the cheese filling

Once you try this Homemade Cheese Sticks Recipe, you’ll never want to go back to those fried Mozzarella Sticks (okay, maybe just every once in a while for a guilty treat). But you really won’t miss them once you’ve had these Ham & Cheese Sticks. And your kids will love them too!

Mine turned out great! I wonder if it’s the type of mozzarella being used? Maybe some oilier than others? I want to try in air fryer next:)5 stars

I admit, I was a little nervous when I after I read the reviews but I had no problems with this recipe at all. I did use a smoked ham instead of the honey ham, and my only issue was I underestimated how many pieces were in the package so six of mine had two pieces and six had one! They baked up very nice. I may have bake them for a little bit longer than your recipe, one of them stuck and I was using tinfoil instead of parchment paper, but otherwise the rest of them all flipped over and crisp up nicely. They were crispy cheesy and they were eaten faster than I could take a photo!5 stars

Can’t really comment on the recipe as written. After reading all the comments, I used puff pastry to make the breadsticks. Used grated mozzarella instead of string cheese (felt that was way too much cheese). Egg washed the breadsticks and added sesame seeds. Got a two thumbs up from my granddaughter3 stars

So basically you made a different product/recipe altogether, but then rated the recipe that you did not make? That’s sketchy and unfair entirely.
