- Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter divided
- 2 apples cored and sliced (no need to peel)
- 7½ ounces apple butter (½ jar) – use more if desired
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ancho chili powder or chili powder
- ⅓ cup heavy cream room temperature
Instructions

- Melt 2 tablespoons butter over medium-high heat in a large skillet. Add the pork chops and cook each side for 3 minutes. Place pork on a plate and allow to rest while you cook the apples.3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- Using the same skillet, melt the remaining 1 tablespoon of butter. Add the apple slices and allow to cook until soft, about 5 minutes. Pour in the apple butter (you can use a bit more if you want, but it does get pretty sweet), brown sugar, and chili powder. Stir to combine. Add in the cream and continue to stir. I thought this was a a delicious dish. I made one change by adding a little red wine to the apples after cooking to deglaze the pan before I added the apple butter mixture. When I make this the next time I will not use 29 oz of apple butter: It was way too much for 2 pork chops.
What kind of apples did you use?
I really liked this. The only feedback I got was that the pork was overcooked. I’m not sure if it’s because my pork wasn’t as thick as the pork used when the recipe was made or something else. Will use the meat thermometer next time so make sure I don’t overcook them again
To clean the pan easily place empty pan in the sink, add hot water and a dryer sheet allowing it to soak.
The stuck on sauce should soften and come off.
